International Energy Agency Energy Storage Technology Cooperation Program
The International Energy Agency (www.iea.org) is a global organization that works to provide reliable, economical and clean energy with its 29 member countries, including Turkey. In this organization, headquartered in Paris, activities are carried out through technology cooperation programs within the scope of the priorities of energy security, economic development, environmental awareness and global collaborations. With the approval of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs with its letter dated 26 June 1995 and numbered KEGY-II/340435/1607, Çukurova University, representing our country, signed the Energy Conservation through Energy Storage Technology Cooperation Program with the International Energy Agency on 29 June 1995. Technology Collaboration Program – IEA ECES TCP www.iea-eces.org) has signed the implementation agreement. Since this date, our University has been serving as the Turkish delegate on the ECES board of directors. Our university also served as the chairman of the ECES board of directors, which has 18 countries as members, for two terms (1999-2002, 2011-2016).
Energy storage technologies are a strategic component of low-carbon and renewable energy-based energy systems. These technologies can provide continuous and reliable energy use in buildings, industry, transportation and agricultural applications without being dependent on fossil fuel sources. With the membership of the ECES technology cooperation program at our university, the following scientific studies have been carried out with the aim of introducing energy storage in our country and ensuring its widespread use, and making significant contributions to the country's economy and environmental health in terms of energy efficiency:
Air Conditioning of Greenhouses with Solar Energy and Heat Storage Central System (Heating-Cooling) (1991-1996)
